The Northern California Regional Land Trust (The Land Trust) partnered with eight watershed groups increase stakeholder awareness of watershed stewardship practices and permanently protect lands within the upper reaches of ten prominent creeks contained within the Tehama Land Formation. Work completed over the course of the project included the following:
1. Developed outreach materials for mailings and presentations targeting approximately 1,000 landowners in the Project region
2. Constructed a geo-database of applicable properties using GIS
3. Conducted outreach through direct mailings, presentations, and site visits
4. Evaluated conservation easement project applications submitted by interested landowners in the region
5. Developed nine prospects for possible conservation easement acquisition
When completed, the above-mentioned conservation easement acquisition prospects will permanently protect approximately 7,709 acres of high-quality riparian habitat and approximately 15 creek miles along Big Chico Creek, Little Chico Creek, Pine Creek, Deer Creek, and Mill Creek in Butte and Tehama counties.
